If you’re into grills, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that Weber has made an incredible contribution to the market for outdoor electric grills; probably the best one that you’ll find here on Survival Cooking. Like most Weber products, the price is a little higher than many of its competitors, but the level of quality ensures that the comparative value to a lesser priced premium product is at least equal.
In general, this is a compact electric grill, and won’t serve the purpose of feeding a mass feast’s worth of people at a time. But if you’re looking for something that can cook a family gathering’s worth of burgers, with an impressive 1560-watt heating element on a crisp 189-inch grilling space– and something that will do it in a smooth, effective way– you won’t be going wrong by choosing this Weber product.
It comes out of the box fully assembled, and the rest of your experience is basically determined by the ease and effortlessness of this precedent. The cord is 6 feet long, which is matches or is less than the standard set by competitors, but this minor issue can be fixed with an extension cord, should you require a bit more length. The accessibility for the owner to master the high amount of control over the heat levels on this electric grill is unprecedented. Maybe the only downside of this grill is that you won’t be able to use the machine as an excuse if the dishes you cook don’t end up turning out exactly as they should.
The design is totally slick and simple, with an impressive aesthetic that is smooth and sharp. The Q1400 is quite portable, weighing in at less than 30 pounds, and taking up 20.5 x 27 x 23.5 inches worth of space. This grill is for outdoor use only, so it doesn’t carry the indoor abilities of many other electric grills– so, if this lack of versatility is a dealbreaker for you, that’s fair. But, if you’re looking for an electric grill that is meant to be used outdoors, you’re not going to find one much better than the Weber 1400.
In case you can’t tell by now, I recommend this grill fully and completely, if you can afford the slightly steeper price tag. It is the best electric outdoor grill that I’ve yet to stumble on. Cooking on many outdoor electric grills can easily be unsatisfactory– that won’t be the case if you decide to purchase a Weber 1400.
